The physical cause of Aplastic Anemia is when your bone marrow stops producing blood cells. Normal bone marrow continually produces new blood cells of all types to replace old ones: Red blood cells live about 120 days, platelets about seven and most white blood cells a day or less.
There are many potential causes of Aplastic Anemia such as High-dose radiation and chemo, exposure to toxic chemicals, pregnancy, use of certain drugs like the antibiotic chloramphenicol (or certain drug interactions), viral infection, auto immune disorders, or other factors which are termed idiopathic--which means doctors haven't figured out the reason why yet.
