Rocketdyne
California Non-Profit Corporation
dedicated to the proper clean-up and
characterization of the Rocketdyne - Santa Susana
Field Laboratory owned by Boeing. If you haven't
heard of Rocketdyne, here's a little background
information:
Defense contractor Rocketdyne is denying responsibility for perchlorate contamination of water in the Simi Valley region. Their test site in the Santa Susana Mountains was the site of a partial nuclear meltdown in 1959. That plus decades of illegal disposal of toxic materials has caused health risks for local residents.
The battle against this contamination is ongoing. Here is a recent Press Release (LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCIL AND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ENDORSE KUEHL’S SANTA SUSANA TOXIC WASTE CLEAN-UP BILL)
Smoke from a rocket test at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory is seen at right. The lab has been studied for years because of fears of chemical spills into the groundwater.
